Bacaan Mengenai Al-Tabari


Ada banyak kajian dan bahan baca mengenai Al-Tabari. Tiga berikut ada dalam simpanan folder DT50 1 2020 al-Tabari.

1. The Annals of Tabari: The Caliphate of Al-Mu'tamid. Tesis phd oleh Philip M Kimmelfield, Philadelphia tahun 1955. Tebal 469 m/surat. Akademia yang terlibat dengan kajian ini adalah Professor M. Bravmann, PK. Hitti dan Rosenthal.

2. Ibn Kathir some aspects. Tesis phd oleh Hafiz Abdul Latif Arain, Durham University tahun 1970. Tebal 397 m/surat.

Petikan bab conclusion:

It was the traditional object of the theologians to deal with different views and to include as a large avista as possible. It is the merit of Ibn Kathir that steps forward very carefully, scans different views and successfully avoids three basic dangers; 

a) creating dissension among Muslims, (b). leaving fundamental problems untouched and unsolved, (c). ignoring to mention with precision relevant significant points.

Sedikit Tentang Barmakid dan Balkh

Bila membaca sejarah Abbasid khususnya pada era awal, era Harun Al-Rashid dan sebelumnya juga, kita akan jumpa mengenai Barmakid. Keluarga Barmakid dikata berasal dari Parsi dan dulunya pernah menganut agama Buddha. Pertama memeluk Islam kalangan keluarga Barmakid adalah Khalid ibn Barmakid (d.782). Beliau memeluk Islam sekitar tahun 720an. Keluarga Barmakid pernah menjadi pembesar Abbasid yang mendapat kepercayaan istana Abbasid Harun Al-Rashid. Menurut Britannica, Barmakid adalah - link ; Barmakids , priestly  family  of Iranian origin, from the city of  Balkh  in Khorāsān, who achieved prominence in the 8th century as scribes and viziers to the early  Abbāsid  caliphs.
