As-Suddi: his name was Ismaa'eel Ibn Abdur-Rahman Ibn Abu Kareemah. His nick name was Abu Muhammad Al-Hijazi, from Kufah, the interpreter of the meaning of the Quran.


Among his Shaykhs were: Anas bin Malik, Ibnu Abbas, Abd Khair Al-Mahdaani and Mus'ab Ibn Mus'ad, Abu Salih Bathaam, Abu Abdur-Rahman As-Sulami and others. It is said that he saw Abu Hurairah and Al-Hassan bin Ali. 


Among his students were: Shu'bah, Sufyan Ath-Thawri, Zaa'idah, Israil, Abu Awaanah, Al-Mutlab ibn Ziyad, Asbat ibn Nasr, Abu Bakr Ibn Ayyaash and others.

He died in 127 AH.

Bila membaca sejarah Abbasid khususnya pada era awal, era Harun Al-Rashid dan sebelumnya juga, kita akan jumpa mengenai Barmakid. Keluarga Barmakid dikata berasal dari Parsi dan dulunya pernah menganut agama Buddha. Pertama memeluk Islam kalangan keluarga Barmakid adalah Khalid ibn Barmakid (d.782). Beliau memeluk Islam sekitar tahun 720an. Keluarga Barmakid pernah menjadi pembesar Abbasid yang mendapat kepercayaan istana Abbasid Harun Al-Rashid.
