Ad-Dahhak ibn Muzahim (d.105/723M). Ada juga yang sebut nama sebagai al-Dahhak bin Muzahim al-Hilali. Wafat pada 102H/721M – ensiklopedia ulama jakim (link). Beliau merupakan Imam tabi’in/atba’ tabi’in wilayah Khurasan. Al-Dahhak telah menghasilkan Tafsir al-Dahhak yang merupakan salah sebuah tafsir terawal.
Nota:
Ada juga tokoh nama Al-Dahhak ibn Qays al-Fihri (d.684M). Beliau merupakan jeneral tentera era Umayyad yang berpusat di Damascus. Baca wiki Al-Dahhak ibn Qays – link.

Ad-Dahhak ibn Muzahim had massive knowledge, and was well-known for the field of interpreting the Quran. Among his Shaykhs were: Abu Said al-Kudri, Ibn Umar, Anas bin Malik, Al-Aswad, Said bin Jubayr and others.

He was a trustworthy person but he was not very concise in reporting the Prophetic narrations [due to his lack of concentration and weakness of his memory], as stated by Ath-Tha'labi. It was for this reason that the narrations reported by him were reported by Abu Daud, An-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah and At-Tirmizi. But not reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

Bila membaca sejarah Abbasid khususnya pada era awal, era Harun Al-Rashid dan sebelumnya juga, kita akan jumpa mengenai Barmakid. Keluarga Barmakid dikata berasal dari Parsi dan dulunya pernah menganut agama Buddha. Pertama memeluk Islam kalangan keluarga Barmakid adalah Khalid ibn Barmakid (d.782). Beliau memeluk Islam sekitar tahun 720an. Keluarga Barmakid pernah menjadi pembesar Abbasid yang mendapat kepercayaan istana Abbasid Harun Al-Rashid.
