Kenapa nak tulis pasal masjid sekitar Malindi? Tujuan asal hendak membaca tentang kewujudan sebuah stesen pelancar roket di Mandili. Bila sebut pasal Mandili teringat dua perkara - kedatangan Portugis ke Mandili dan kewujudan orang Islam yang sudah sedia mendiami Mandili sebelum Portugis datang.

The Jumaa Mosque is one of twelve mosques in the little town of Malindi by the Indian Ocean in Kenya. The pillar tombs in the foreground are the remains of the original old mosque. However, this mosque has rather bloody past as it was used as a haven for slave trading until mid-1870s.

Bila membaca sejarah Abbasid khususnya pada era awal, era Harun Al-Rashid dan sebelumnya juga, kita akan jumpa mengenai Barmakid. Keluarga Barmakid dikata berasal dari Parsi dan dulunya pernah menganut agama Buddha. Pertama memeluk Islam kalangan keluarga Barmakid adalah Khalid ibn Barmakid (d.782). Beliau memeluk Islam sekitar tahun 720an. Keluarga Barmakid pernah menjadi pembesar Abbasid yang mendapat kepercayaan istana Abbasid Harun Al-Rashid.
