Siapa Sultan bin Mohammad Al-Qasimi? Pertama kali temu namanya bila baca buku bertajuk 'Deep-Seated Malice'. Buku terbitan AlQasimi Publication UAE tahun 2006. Buku merupakan terjemahan dari karya bahasa Arab 'Al-Huqd al-Dafin' tahun 2004.

Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, ruler of Sharjah is a great historian and one of the eminent Arab writers. He was born on July 6, 1939. He took power in the emirate of Sharjah on 25 January 1972 and became member of the supreme council of the union, United Arab Emirates. He has been very passionate about literature and history of his homeland and is still a patron of literature, culture and art. He is truly a wonderful personality with outstanding works of great value even at the age of seventy three. He is the recipient of educational awards, medals, certificates and various honorary memberships across the world. Sultan has great role in promoting Arabic language and literature and transferring Arab culture and heritage to non Arabs.

Bila membaca sejarah Abbasid khususnya pada era awal, era Harun Al-Rashid dan sebelumnya juga, kita akan jumpa mengenai Barmakid. Keluarga Barmakid dikata berasal dari Parsi dan dulunya pernah menganut agama Buddha. Pertama memeluk Islam kalangan keluarga Barmakid adalah Khalid ibn Barmakid (d.782). Beliau memeluk Islam sekitar tahun 720an. Keluarga Barmakid pernah menjadi pembesar Abbasid yang mendapat kepercayaan istana Abbasid Harun Al-Rashid.
