MV Pedoman (Tg Pelepas to Port Kelang)


I was fortunate enough able to participate in sailing mission on board of Jabatan Laut's vessel MV Pedoman. It sails from Tg Pelepas to Port Kelang - the journey started at 12.30pm and reached Port Kelang the next morning around 9.30 am. 

Regretfully not much effort on my part. Others were doing their bit. Collecting data, supervising and attending to briefing sessions. Certainly bad impression were left there.

Sedikit Tentang Barmakid dan Balkh

Bila membaca sejarah Abbasid khususnya pada era awal, era Harun Al-Rashid dan sebelumnya juga, kita akan jumpa mengenai Barmakid. Keluarga Barmakid dikata berasal dari Parsi dan dulunya pernah menganut agama Buddha. Pertama memeluk Islam kalangan keluarga Barmakid adalah Khalid ibn Barmakid (d.782). Beliau memeluk Islam sekitar tahun 720an. Keluarga Barmakid pernah menjadi pembesar Abbasid yang mendapat kepercayaan istana Abbasid Harun Al-Rashid. Menurut Britannica, Barmakid adalah - link ; Barmakids , priestly  family  of Iranian origin, from the city of  Balkh  in Khorāsān, who achieved prominence in the 8th century as scribes and viziers to the early  Abbāsid  caliphs.
