Semasa mengemas bilik terjumpa fail lama tugas sebagai Penasihat Akademik lama dulu. Salah seorang pelajar yang pernah bersama ialah Mohd Noor Phahamee Bin Hamzah. Beliau graduat pada tahun 2002. Tajuk tesis PSM Phahamee ialah  "Potensi aplikasi pengukuran GPS kaedah STOP & GO dalam ukur kadaster". Menurut maklmat carian Phahamee bekerja dengan Fugro Survey Middle East (source - linkdin). A two day workshop "Ground-Based GPS Meteorology" was held on 23-24 Oct. The workshop was organized by GnG chaired by Dr Tajul. The opening was officiated by the Dean of FGRE. A new book on GBVP was recently published by Springer. The book was edited by Sanso & Sideris. Geodetic Boundary Value Problem (2017) Contents: 1). Physical Geodesy and its BVP; 2) On the linearization band; 3) On the equivalent linearized BVP's of Molodensky and Helmert; 4) On the equivalent BVPs of Stokes and Helmert, and their relations to the Molodensky BVP by analytical continuation; 5) The downward continuation approach; 6) The change of boundary approach; 7) The pseudo-boundary value problem interpretation; 8) One further example, some remarks and conclusions; Appendix - On the analysis of the upward continuation operator. - - - - -

Dr Albert Chong, a Senior Lecturer from USQ is on a short visit again to PLS Lab Fght. He is here at Utm after attending and presenting paper at Conference on Diabetes in KL. I met him for short talk and he explained his recent research on helping diabetic patients with foot ulcer using some kind of image motion technique. A MSc thesis "Development of a new methodology for measuring deformation in tunnels and shafts with terrestrial laser scanning (Lidar) using elliptical fitting algorithms". The thesis was submitted by Dani Delaloye at Queen's University,Kingston, Ontario in 2012. It is quite rare to see someone working in deformation monitoring at Queen's. Great achievement ! Buat pertama kalinya TDPI mengadakan kunjungan singkat ke GnG. Beliau telah diberi taklimat oleh Ketua GnG mengenai aktiviti dan pencapaian sempena lawatan tersebut. Perbincangan TDPI di GnG - - - - -

Dua staf Jabatan Geoinformatik bersara pada bulan Oktober. Mereka ialah Hj Ghazali Hashim mula bersara pada awal Okt dan Hj Shaharuddin Mohd Said mula bersara pada 18 Okt. Satu majlis pengharagaan sempena persaraan mereka diadakan pada pagi ini. Majlis diisi dengan ucapan persaraan dan berakhir dengan jamuan makan tengahari. A Chinese scholar from Hubei, Xingxing Li, completed his research on GNSS seismology and graduated from TU Berlin with his PhD thesis entitled "Real-time high-rate GNSS techniques for earthquake monitoring and early warning". His work was supervised by Harald Schuh (IAG President) and Maorong Ge (GFZ) and defended in July 2015 with Drs Frank Fletchner and Urs Hugentobler as examiners. The thesis - - - - -
