Seminar on Regional Geodynamics at G&G


A one-day seminar on regional geodynamic was held today at G&G Lab. The seminar was attended by about thirty participants majority of them from UTM. Five participants came representing Jupem and one from Angkasa. A total of five speakers presenting their works on geodynamic of SE Asia monitored by GPS. The presenter were;

Mr Wim Simons (TU Delft), Assoc Prof Irwan Meilano (ITB), Dr Effendy (UTHM), Wan Anom (UTM) and Asrul (UiTM Arau).

Sedikit Tentang Barmakid dan Balkh

Bila membaca sejarah Abbasid khususnya pada era awal, era Harun Al-Rashid dan sebelumnya juga, kita akan jumpa mengenai Barmakid. Keluarga Barmakid dikata berasal dari Parsi dan dulunya pernah menganut agama Buddha. Pertama memeluk Islam kalangan keluarga Barmakid adalah Khalid ibn Barmakid (d.782). Beliau memeluk Islam sekitar tahun 720an. Keluarga Barmakid pernah menjadi pembesar Abbasid yang mendapat kepercayaan istana Abbasid Harun Al-Rashid. Menurut Britannica, Barmakid adalah - link ; Barmakids , priestly  family  of Iranian origin, from the city of  Balkh  in Khorāsān, who achieved prominence in the 8th century as scribes and viziers to the early  Abbāsid  caliphs.
