The IAG Symposia 101 themed as Global & Regional Geodynamics. The proceedings is edited by Pavel Vyskocil of International Center on Recent Crustal Movement, Prague; Christoph Reigber of German Geodetic Research Institute, Munchen and Paul A Cross of University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

The proceedings content was focused on the following topics;

  • Regional Dynamics
  • Modelling of Deformation
  • Deformation Studies by GPS
  • Horizontal Crustal Movements
  • Vertical Crustal Movements
  • Gravimetry and Crustal Deformation

Among the papers presented were the development of several recent global plate models using Lageos and other geodetic observations;
Sjoberg presented "A Refined Adjustment Model for the Secular Change of Gravity on the Fennoscandian 63 degree Latitude Gravity Line"
Barbarella, Maurizio, Fabio Radicioni, Kalman Filtering in Levelling: An Application.

Sedikit Tentang Barmakid dan Balkh

Bila membaca sejarah Abbasid khususnya pada era awal, era Harun Al-Rashid dan sebelumnya juga, kita akan jumpa mengenai Barmakid. Keluarga Barmakid dikata berasal dari Parsi dan dulunya pernah menganut agama Buddha. Pertama memeluk Islam kalangan keluarga Barmakid adalah Khalid ibn Barmakid (d.782). Beliau memeluk Islam sekitar tahun 720an. Keluarga Barmakid pernah menjadi pembesar Abbasid yang mendapat kepercayaan istana Abbasid Harun Al-Rashid. Menurut Britannica, Barmakid adalah - link ; Barmakids , priestly  family  of Iranian origin, from the city of  Balkh  in Khorāsān, who achieved prominence in the 8th century as scribes and viziers to the early  Abbāsid  caliphs.
