Maka Kaisar meminta bantuan kepada musuhnya, yakni khalifah Abu Ja'far al Mansur, khalifah ke2 Dinasti Abasyiah. Al-Mansur mengabulkan permohonan bantuan Kaisar Xuanzong dengan mengirim pasukan tentera Arab ke Cina untuk memadamkan pemberontakan An Lushan.  Setelah berhasil menghancurkan pasukan An Lushan, balatentara Arab itu dibuli orang-orang Cina dikatakan makan babi.
