Period Bandit Kedah 1900-1920
Buku Peasant Robbers menyebut beriku; Faktor ekonomi teruk sebagai penyebab kepada kemunculan kes kecurian dan rompakan oleh peasant robbers di Kedah. Ada tiga nama yang disebut - Nayan (period 1914-1920), Awang Poh (period 1915-1922) manakala pada period lebih awal Salleh Tui (1907-1908). The three were in fact, village ruffians who rose to become heads of criminal bands because of their leadership qualities, daring exploits, and skills in armed combats, like their their Siamese counterparts, the nakleng. [Ruffian is a rough person; Nakleng described variously as a rouge, a rascal, a ruffian, a dishonest, and unprincipled person, a knave, a scamp]. Salleh Tui is a Sam-Sam who came from Setul in Siam. Salleh Tui's territory comprised Padang Terap and Kubang Pasu. After Salleh Tui, the outlaws Awang Poh and Din Prum terrorized these areas until there were killed in 1922.
