Banyak buku yang telah diterbitkan mengenai aspek sains dan sejarah pengkajian bentuk bumi. Tajuk ini menjadi tumpuan bidang geodesi (dan sebelumnya oleh ahli astronomi). Salah satu buku tersebut ialah The problem of the Earth's shape from Newton to Clairaut yang terbit pada 1995 tulisan John Greenberg. Buku diterbitkan oleh Cambridge University Press. Erik Bergstrand is a very renown name in surveying. He is the inventor of EDM. Bergstrand was grew up in Upspsala and was influenced by his father a professor of astronomy at Uppsala University. The IX Hotine-Marussi Symposium under IAG was held at the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" Rome on June 18-22, 2018. Link -  uniroma . Bkfu telah mengadakan majlis hari raya untuk semua ahli pada hujung minggu. Tak dapat pula nak hadir majlis tersebut kerana kebetulan ada undangan perkahwinan di KL. Di majlis Bkfu tersebut turut disampaikan hadiah persaraan ke pesara dan bakal pesara 2018. Sebagai salah seorang bakal pesara maka adalah hadiah yang diterima dari bkfu. Martin Vermeer lebih dikenali sebagai seorang ahli geodesi dan kebanyakan penerbitan beliau memang mengenai geodesi. Namun ketika mencari-cari penulisan beliau terjumpa pula satu nota kuliah mengenai fotogrametri. Beliau menghasilkan penerbitan "Digital aerial mapping - a hands-on course" pada April 2018. Chapter 15 nota tersebut bertajuk "Datums in geodesy and photogrammetry" adalah suatu yang menarik untuk dibaca. Berikut adalah petikan preface nota oleh Vermeer; This book grew out of a series of lectures the first author, professor of geodesy at Aalto University’s Department of the Built Environment, held as a guest lecturer at Bahir Dar University’s Institute of Land Administration in Ethiopia.
