Weisbach – Mining Survey

When we learn mining survey or underground survey we might encounter a topic on Weisbach method. This method is use as a means to solve for azimuth transfer from surface to underground. But why it was named Weisbach? The answer is its bearing the name of the founder of such method i.e., Julius Weisbach (1806-1871). Julius Weisbach was a German mathematician and engineer who wrote on mechanics, hydraulics and surveying as well as mathematics. He studied mathematics with Gauss in Gottingen.
