Arriving NCTU

Image
Upon reaching Hsinchu headed straight away to nctu campus and arrived there about 5pm. It was quite dark already (in December). My host professor is still working. He mentioned that he was just back to office after having his jogging routine. Scene near the main entrance of NCTU (obviously this is not in the evening though!). The tall buildings seen behind were apartment outside campus and not part of NCTU. Nctu's Dept of Civil Engineering - the place where I spend my days. - - - - -

Journey to Hsinchu

Image
At the airport a colleague from nctu was ready waiting. He is a graduate student and driving a white cefiro. So I don’t have to worry about transportation to get out from the airport. We drove straight to nctu campus at hsinchu. The journey was about 45 minutes. Traffic condition at that time seems quite heavy. Hsinchu is connected by good highway from the airport passing through a number of toll booths. The toll rate for car is NT40 By referring to the map below it is shown Hsinchu is link by the Sun Yat-sen freeway, also known as north-south second freeway from Taipei. The highway was quite old augurated in 1978. Refer  here  and  here  (wiki) for info on Taiwan highway. Read  here  about paying toll in Taiwan. - - - - -
